1 Corinthians

1 Corinthians 1

Sectarianism Is Sin

v10: Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Christ the Power and Wisdom of God

v18: For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

v20: Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

v25: Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.  Glory Only in the Lord

v26: For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

v27: But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

1 Corinthians 2

v03: I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

v09: But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

v16: For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 3

v07: So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

v11: For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

v17: If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

1 Corinthians 4

v10: We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!

1 Corinthians 5

Immorality in the Church Must Be Judged

v01: It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife!

v06: Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

v11: But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person.

1 Corinthians 6

v02: Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

v15: Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!

v18: Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

v19: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

v20: For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 7

v15: But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.

v24: Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.

v27: Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife.

v32: But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord--how he may please the Lord.

v33: But he who is married cares about the things of the world--how he may please his wife.

1 Corinthians 8

Be Sensitive to Conscience

v01: Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

v02: And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.

v10: For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?

1 Corinthians 9

v07: Who ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk of the flock?

v22: to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

v27: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

1 Corinthians 10

v06: Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

v08: Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;

v10: nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

v11: Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

v12: Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

v13: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

v21: You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.

v24: Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.

1 Corinthians 11

v03: But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

v04: Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.

v07: For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.

v09: Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.

v10: For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

v14: Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?

v24: and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

v25: In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

1 Corinthians 12

v03: Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

v11: But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

v26: And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

v28: And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

1 Corinthians 13

v02: And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

v04: Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;

v05: does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

v07: bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Corinthians 14

v04: He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

v05: I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

v12: Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.

v13: Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.

v14: For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

v15: What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.

v22: Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.

v27: If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.

v34: Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.

v39: Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.

1 Corinthians 15

v22: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

v26: The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

v33: Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

v51: Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed --

v52: in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

v53: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

v54: So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

v55: "O Death, where is your sting?  O Hades, where is your victory?"

v58: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 16

v14: Let all that you do be done with love.
