Technique Of The Month

Checking The Storm

Attack: The opponent approaches you from the front and executes a right downward club strike (that misses) and a follow-up right roundhouse club attack.

Defense:

  1. From a natural stance, push-drag towards 3:00 into a left 45’ cat stance (10:30) as you raise both of your hands to protect your head from the opponent’s overhead attack.
  2. As the opponent returns with the roundhouse club strike execute a left extended outward block and grab to the inside of his right wrist.
  3. Pull him diagonally downward with your left hand as you execute a left front ball kick (bladder/groin).
  4. Plant your left foot into a left rotating twist stance (facing his centerline) and deliver a right side kick (inside right knee).
  5. Plant forward into a right neutral bow (10:30) as you execute a right outward back-knuckle strike (right side of head).
