Technique Of The Month

Attacking Mace

Attack: The opponent is in front of you, stepping in with a right straight punch.

Defense:

  1. From a natural stance, slide your right foot back into a left neutral bow (facing 12:00) as you execute a left inward block to the opponent's right arm. Your right fist is chambered along your right hip.
  2. Rotate into a left forward bow and execute a right straight punch to the area of the opponent's right pectoral muscle (the shoulder/chest area inside his punching arm), as your left open-hand covers the right side of your head. As the force of your punch moves him away from you, open your right hand and circle it under and outside his right arm to grab his wrist. Once his right wrist is grabbed execute a right straight front kick to his midsection and plant your right foot into a right neutral bow - planting your right foot to the inside of his right foot.
  3. While maintaining the grab to his right wrist, rotate into a right forward bow and execute a left diagonal uppercut punch to the opponent's right ribcage.
